“Lawrence Merchandising Resets the Bar for Overnight Installations”
An international retailer of pet merchandise needed additional store support to reset and re-merchandise two existing departments within a group of test stores to launch a five year roll out plan to over 1100 locations. The project mandated external support as it required additional skill sets beyond those of their regular team members. It was necessary to conduct the resets overnight to prevent the disruption of normal business. The retailer implemented a scorecard program to achieve 95% store operations approval and satisfaction for stores serviced over five year span. Lawrence Merchandising was able to effectively schedule reset teams to complete the project while successfully achieving the desired results for the test region.
Our Role
To plan, schedule and execute the reset and re-merchandising of two existing store departments, after hours, with reset teams of six reps including a Lawrence on-site supervisor to manage the project in real time. The key initiative was to relocate and reset sub-categories within each department and assemble and install new in-set and overhead marketing signage packages. The Lawrence teams also installed permanent informational fixtures, cut in new items (up to five pallets of new product), executed a new profile for shelving and completed a re-peg of a 16’
linear section of hanging merchandise. Reset teams were graded against the satisfaction of store management in regard to all aspects of the project.
The Challenge
The greatest challenge was the timing for service and the scheduling of reset manpower. It was critical that the project was executed with no interruption to the day-to-day business of the stores and that the reset/installations were transparent to the store customers. To complete all of the directives per location, Lawrence Merchandising was required to carefully plan and coordinate teams of multiple service reps, per store, to work overnight hours.
The Solution
Lawrence Merchandising meticulously reviewed the volume of merchandise to be moved, space to be reconfigured, fixtures to be installed, new items to be cut-in and signage to be placed in order to plan for the correct number of reps to complete the project per location. With flexible scheduling and thorough coverage, Lawrence was able to coordinate their teams and back-up reps to service multiple locations simultaneously. The reset teams performed this project within the established time constraints while streamlining all processes and procedures to ensure flawless execution and gain the approval of the store management teams.
The Result
Lawrence Merchandising completed 100% of the reset/installation service directives as scheduled with the retailer, helping them move towards their targeted five year plan. The retailer scorecard survey yielded favorable results for the test stores, contributing to the overall goal
of 95% store approval. The knowledge, expertise and follow-through of the Lawrence teams enabled store personnel to focus on their regular day-to-day business and ensured a seamless reset transition for store employees and their customers. Due to the success of the test service,Lawrence merchandising was awarded subsequent services and projects as required by the client for their ongoing merchandising needs.
